My hosting company uses c-panel. In the c-panel there is a software called Softacolous which can be used to install and manage all kinds of available softwares for a site. Softaculous has a feature that allows one to "clone" each installed program like dotclear. It used to have a "backup" feature but that is no longer available.
When I press the "clone" button for dotclear, softaculous starts the process but then finds the error I showed in my prior entry and stops the process.

Today I tried to clone my dotclear blog before upgrading and received the following message from softacolous:

MySQL Error No : 1701

Anyone knows what this means and how to fix it so I can clone my blog?
I don't understand why media chooser no longer allows video insertion, but I found a work around that works for me.
I had already posted another entry with a video. It worked then. So what I did is copy the video code from that entry, made the necessary changes to point to the new video file location, and pasted this code to my new entry and viola there is the video.
Still, if anyone knows how to add video through "normal" procedures, please do let me know.

Thanks a bunch Philippe! I changed admin address to https and added www. to the address in config.php. Now it works.
I have trouble adding video to an entry. When I choose media chooser and select a video file I get the following error message:
---- "Please note that you cannot insert video files with visual editor."
How do I insert a video file to my entry?

Hi everyone,
I have been having a problem with dcCKEditor for quite a while forcing me to use dcLegacyEditor. It would be nice to figure out the problem so I can use the dcCKEditor.
Problem: when I choose dcCKEditor as my preferred editor, the 'new entry' page goes blank on the Excerpt and Content fields. I can't post an entry at all. When I reset it back to the legacy editor then the 'new entry page' works fine.
Any ideas what the problem might be? My version of dotclear is 2.15.1
Note:
I only have this problem on a blog I have been running for many years - upgraded to 2.15.1.
I have a test blog with no entries and dcCKEditor works there. BUT when I do a full blog import to this test blog then dcCKEditor STOPS working. There must be some setting in my blog that is causing the problem...
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a tinny request for the next update of dotclear.
It would be really nice to have the "save" and "preview" buttons for an entry placed once again above the entry box. Perhaps right next to the "comments" button.
It is a little bit annoying to have to scroll down every time I want to save or preview the entry I'm writing.
It used to be these buttons were available both above and below the entry box. Can we have that back that way?

I have a 2.7 version of dotclear installed. I have wanted to insert a video link from youtube in one of my entries. To do so I installed the external media and videoinsert plugins but neither one seem to work. The buttons that are supposed to show up on the new entry editor are not there.
Anyone used these before? Am I missing something to get these to work?
My hosting company sent me an email complaining about my use of php 5.2 for my website...
Two simple questions...
1. Does dotclear 2.4.4 work with php 5.5 ?
2. Under documentation for hosting with 1and1 dotclear suggests using the following line:
AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
Which I inserted in my htaccess file long ago.
Does this command force the server to use the oldest version of php 5? Like 5.2 vs 5.5? Or does it simply specify the use of whatever php 5 version is available?

Ok, from the title of your entry, I can see you are on 1and1 server. Is that correct?
I run dotclear on 1and1 too and it works fine. One thing to know about 1and1 is that it runs php 4 by default. If you wish to run php 5 or greater you have to create a htaccess file.

I do remember having problems with dotclear and 1and1 which were fixed by specifying the use of php5.
Hope this takes care of it.
I once had a similar problem and the easiest answer for me was to do a clean install.
Perhaps you should do the same. It may be easier to just start again from scratch.
1. Delete your database (if you do have valuable data in it do back it up using phpadmin)
2. Delete the dotclear installation in your directory.
3. Start from scratch
--- make a new database
--- unzip or upload dotclear
--- run it.
One way to ensure there are no mistakes with the password is to type it first in a program like notepad. Then, copy it and paste it in the appropriate field during installation.

I recently installed a blog with the theme "woof" and in inspecting the home page with the "view page info" in firefox I noticed that dotclear is installing cookies. Other dotclear blogs I have with other themes do not install cookies.
Any one knows where where and what to look for to identify the program that installs the cookies? Any guess why this theme would need cookies?

Do I modify the entry loop in the home.html file?

I would like to use password protected entries for a special blog, but need to modify the dotclear behavior. Currently, dotclear will not display a password protected entry. The only way to view this entry is to have the actual url to it and then enter the password.
I need this to be different.
I would like to modify the code so that dotclear will display links to password protected entries as if they were unprotected. Just like any other regular entry. When someone clicks on the link for the protected entry, they would get the "enter password" request.
Anyone know how to do this?
I have the blog set up to display only one entry at a time and took all sidebar navigation links out. All I have are "previous" and "next" entry navigation links. They are displayed after an entry. The goal is to have the reader follow each entry, one at a time, and from time to time, password protect an entry so that readers can only continue if they solve a "mystery" and get the right answer (password key).

FOUND THE PROBLEM:
If the sender does not include a valid email address, then it gives this error. I did the test using a fake email address "test@test.com". Today I tested it using a real email address and it works.
The error displayed is
"An error occurred: Unable to send email"
("An error occurred:" is what I entered in the configuration page of DC)
The error shows as part of DC, right under the page title, like for example, when one doesn't type an email address and the plugin tells them it's missing.
I have no idea where this message comes from since as you said, this error message is not defined in the plugin. I rather it would say "invalid email address" or something similar.

I have the contact me plugin installed in several blogs. Today I tried to send a test email from each contact page and on all I got an error: unable to send email.
All blogs are hosted with the same company.
Does anyone know if this is a hosting problem or something else? (it is not a mispelling of email addresses)

I changed the admin folder name and then updated the config.php file. Now, if I type the OLD admin address, dotclear redirects me to the new admin address.
Where do I change dotclear's behavior so it doesn't redirect the request?

What files and code would I need to modify to change the name of the "admin" folder? I would like to make my login page difficult to find.
