Should all folders be reset to 755? And files to 644?
Hors ligne
I just read an older post 2008, and although my French is not so good any more :), with the help of Google translate I think it said that 777 permissions are unavoidable and don't represent a vulnerability with dotclear. I just wanted to confirm this.

Some hosters will not allow 777 permissions anyway, I think that what you have is fine, although you may want protect a bit more the whole site by adding :
Options -Indexes
in your .htaccess file ;)

Thanks for your reply.
You are correct that the hoster does not permit 777 permissions. I have found that both my /public and /cache are 777 and have changed them to 755. Will this disable the blog?

There are also numerous files in /cache which are 777, such as /cbfeed etc. Can those be changed to 755 without affecting the blog?

My cache folder has 705 permissions, then I suppose 755 should work fine too ;)

Thank you :)

Can anyone update on this information. I have just installed dotclear and there were some permissions issues during installation.
I have some directories set to 777 (cache, inc, themes) and I wonder if this is the way they should be. Can anyone with a working installation post their folder permissions? 777 seems a bit risky.

Thank you very much.
