I'm using Version 2.18.1 hosted by Bluehost I am using the dcCKEditor plugin.
What I did to cause the issue:
I inserted a smilie face emoji from IOS while editing the CONTENT section of a post on an iPad.
Before I saved the post the emoji was visible in the editor.
After I saved the post, the following happened:
1. All text and images in the post from the insertion point of the emoji including the emoji were not visible
2. I was unable to view any of the source code for the content section of that post
3. Any changes made to the content section of the post that I could see (i.e. before the emoji insertion point) are not saved.
4. I can edit and save the Excerpt section of the post
The only solution I had was to recreate the post and put a redirect in the corrupted post.
Thanks,
ian

Hi,
Are you using a UTF8 database or a UTF8-mb4 one? In the first case some emojis, which may be encoded on 4 bytes, cannot be handled by a UTF8 database (the limit is 3 bytes for encoded characters).
To bypass this limitation you can install this plugin: https://plugins.dotaddict.org/dc2/details/utf8mb4, it may help.

Hi Franck,
From the MyPhPadmin page it says that server collation is UTF8mb4_unicode_ci. In the character set page of MyPHPadmin it shows both selected UTF8 and UTF8mb4 selected.
Is there a MySQL tool or utility to clean the table of inappropriate characters perhaps?
Thanks,
Ian

Ok so it's may be not an UTF8 encoding problem, very weird!
Note that server collation is not database collation, may be you should try to install the plugin and see what happens?
